What is Physical Therapy?
Physical therapy is the manipulation of the body in order to reduce pain, inflammation, and spasm, as well as speed up healing time and improve function.
Physical therapy can be divided into three parts:
- Passive/Manual: Therapies that are performed on the patient. These therapies include the use of machines. In the office, we use Intersegmental Traction, Intermittent Traction, Flexion-Distraction, Electrical Muscle Stimulation, Microcurrent, Hi Volt, Interferential Current, Ultrasound, Ultrasound Combo, Light Therapy with SLED’s, Laser therapy with Class IV laser. We also have a variety of percussion type devices for relaxing tight muscles.
We also use the ZenPro – Power Vibe, a vibrating platform used for working out. Just 10 minutes on the ZenPro is equal to a 1 hour workout! - Exercises: These are performed in the office with bands and weights for tailored instruction.
- Take-Home Exercises: Your at-home work is crucial for developing strong muscular support for your spine, extremity joints of the body (not located on the spine), and fascial system.
A combination of the three provide your body with the best system to heal.
