Dr. Bernard Burton is a wholistic physician who practices chiropractic, acupuncture, active release technique, craniopathy, and nutrition in Sunrise, Florida. He has been in practice in the Plantation/Sunrise area since 1995. After having graduated with honors from University of Florida in Metallurgical Engineer. in 1979, he herniated a disc in his low back. He sought care from the normal medical practitioners and was helped by a chiropractor who used a technique called Applied Kinesiology and Acupuncture.
He left engineering and pursued a career in the healing arts through natural means of Chiropractic, acupuncture, and nutrition. He graduated in 1993, as VALEDICTORIAN (Top of his Class) from Life College in Marietta, Georgia. He started in a small office Plantation in 1995 and now has a 3200 square feet facility in Sunrise.
Since there are probably over 250 approaches, also called “techniques”, within chiropractic, he uses those he finds most effective. Active Release technique to break the scar and adhesions which develop with activities and injuries. Applied Kinesiology to determine which muscle, or which joint is at issue. Acupuncture to reduce pain and promote healing. Clinical Nutrition to reduce inflammation, increase blood flow, improve digestion, improve liver function, or improve organ function. Either Low force techniques or high velocity techniques can be used based upon the patient’s desires. Massage therapy is also provided from only the best licensed therapists.
For Sports injuries: Manual treatments such as Active Release Technique or Graston Technique or Physical therapy modalities may be used such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, microcurrent, laser, and acupuncture may be used.
For Auto Accident injuries: In addition to providing the patient only the best treatment, he works well with attorneys to the best documentation and care plans.
He has been a member of the National Referral Network for Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia for over 15 years and was a founding Board member for P.A.N.D.O.R.A. He has spoken at many FM/CFS support groups and presented at the F.A.C.E.T.S. 1st Annual “Living With Fibromyalgia Conference” in May 2002, on Alternative Methods of Pain Relief. He also presented at the Cleveland Clinic Spinal Symposium 2000 on the History of Manipulation.
